I am a Fellow of the Dutch Cancer Society and post-doctoral researcher at the Comprehensive Cancer Centre South in Eindhoven and at Tilburg University. My research interests include the health-related aspects of quality of life of cancer survivors, with a focus on survivors’ perceptions of their illness and treatment. Survival after cancer has improved significantly with earlier detection and improvement in treatment techniques. As such, it is important to assess how survivors perceive their illness and the treatment they received as these perceptions could impact on their quality of life. Information from our studies are shared with specialists to improve the quality of care. I am currently involved in a longitudinal study in the health outcomes of colorectal cancer survivors in which PROFILES play an integral role in the data collection.
